The HSE’s National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) commissioned Amárach Research to undertake a survey on parents’/guardians’ attitudes, behaviours, knowledge and awareness of sun protection in Ireland.
The findings of this survey provide valuable insight into parental attitudes and behaviours regarding sun protection for themselves and for their primary school-aged children.
Findings from this research report will be used to inform the development of resources and programmes to engage parents of young children in skin cancer prevention behaviours. It will inform how best to reach this population to increase the awareness of sun protection, the messages and the medium of messages. This research will also serve as a useful baseline to which future research can be compared and inform the implementation of the National Skin Cancer Prevention Plan.
