A weekend of writing at Old Rectory Retreat, Knappagh, Westport June 29-30. Spaces limited.
The workshops run Saturday and Sunday with 2 lovely lunches & teas/coffees. With 2 nights B&B accommodation, it’s €300 all inclusive. Workshops alone (without accommodation) are €180.
We gather at Róisín’s table at Old Rectory Retreat for 4 sessions. Using carefully crafted prompts we get started writing. We often listen to or read inspiring materials. We try to have fun along the way while being as productive as possible.
Some feedback from previous participants:
“I had a wonderful weekend writing with Fiona at the helm. She creates an inspirational space to write, using gentle prompted guidance, and a ‘lets get on with it’ style where we wrote and shared our work and amazed ourselves. As a novice, I didn’t feel intimidated, everything is just a draft. I stayed a few more days to polish my 2 stories. Gracious, kind, Roisin hosts the event in The Old Rectory where I thought I had landed in a piece of writerly heaven. Delicious food and great company rounded out the weekend. Do not miss this if you want to test out, brush up or experiment with writing. Great value too” – Aideen Dunne
“Thank you for the inspiring weekend. I enjoyed every moment of it. Today I started writing an idea for a children’s book that came to me in Mayo.” – Emer Mulcahy
“I first came to the Old Rectory retreat for a writing workshop in 2010. Since then I have been returning eagerly every year, drawn by the convivial company of other aspiring writers, the warm hospitality and delicious food, and the stimulating expert guidance and support of Fiona and Fin, who run these excellent workshops. And I swear there is a fabulous ‘x’ ingredient! A delicious spark that ignites you to write when you gather at Róisín’s magic table at the Old Rectory Retreat.” – Annie Campbell

All levels of experience are welcome. During the weekend we generate first draft material and encourage development of the ideas that emerge. We have had several people over the years who have never written anything (fictionally) before and who left with stories started (and sometimes finished), three of whom went on to write novels from the germs of what they began at Old Rectory Retreat!
