PPN Secretariat Committee:

The Secretariat Committee is the administrative body of the PPN and Secretariat members are elected by the Plenary (collection of all groups registered with Mayo PPN). The Secretariat also oversee the day-to-day operation of the PPN and implement the PPN workplan.

The Secretariat is a county-level committee and is broad and representative of the different geographical areas and the three Pillars [Environment, Social Inclusion and Voluntary & Community] within County Mayo and reflective of the diversity of the membership.

The Secretariat Committee is made of 10 members, 2 from each of the 3 Pillars and one from each of the 4 Municipal Districts and meets at least 4 times per year.

Mayo County Council Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs):

Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) are local authority committees in City and County Councils whose membership includes elected Councillors, representatives of business, commercial, development, construction, community & voluntary, farming interests, environmental/conservation groups, trade unions, education & arts.

SPCs advise and assist the Council in its work. While it is the task of each SPC to assist the Council in the formulation and development of policy, the final policy decisions will rest ultimately with the full Council.

PPN Representatives on the SPCs perform an important function on behalf of PPNs. They are elected by Member Groups to get involved in, and contribute to, these Committees on behalf of the PPN. In doing this, they are bringing the voice of the community to the decision-making committees in Mayo Co Council to represent the PPN as a whole.

Western Region Drug & Alcohol Task Force (WRDATF) Committee:

The WRDATF Committee plays an important role in supporting the development and implementation of initiatives that address drug and alcohol issues across the region. They value the contribution of a broad range of community, voluntary, and statutory stakeholders and are keen to ensure that the committee reflects the diversity of perspectives and expertise within the region.

The WRDATF are seeking two PPN Representatives to sit on this Committee. The nominated representative should have an interest in, or experience of, issues relevant to the work of the WRDATF and be in a position to contribute to discussions and decision-making processes.

Mayo County Council Local Community Development Committee (LCDC):

The Mayo Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) was established in 2014 for the purposes of developing, coordinating and implementing a coherent and integrated approach to local and community development. The committee is made up of representatives from the Local Government and Local Development sectors, public bodies and representatives of social, economic, environmental and community interests. The LCDC is a sub-committee of the local authority but is independent in the discharge of its functions under the Local Government Act 2014.

The PPN has 5 seats on the LCDC: 2 from the Social Inclusion Pillar, 2 from the Community & Voluntary Pillar, and 1 from the Environment Pillar. They are seeking 1 PPN Representative  from the Environment Pillar to fill a newly vacated seat.
