Gardening for Nature 1/2 day outdoor workshop
Saturday 30th of May, 10am – 1pm
Ballyhaunis Community Garden, the Friary grounds
This Biodiversity Week and Ballyhaunis Summer Festival, come explore nature-friendly ways to garden and help create a wildlife pond in the community garden.
We will
– Explore the community garden and assess how and where it is already providing for wildlife.
– Identify plants, trees and maybe insects depending on the weather!
– Make a tailored ‘Plan for Nature’ with recommendations on the top ways to improve the garden’s biodiversity.
– Create a wildlife pond
– Learn about Hedgerows, Wildflowers, Trees, Ponds, Plants for Pollinators and more….
You can
– Ask questions about your own garden
– Learn about top tips for nature friendly gardening
– Understand terms like ‘biodiversity’, ‘habitats’ and ‘native species’
– Discover some new-old ways to care for nature in your own garden
– Try your hand at creating a garden pond for wildlife
– Enjoy a morning outdoors in connection with nature and community!
This is a free event. All ages welcome, children must be accompanied. Wear appropriate clothing.
