Are you a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person who is moving on to further education or out into the world of work? Chime, the national charity for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People, “Explore Mentoring Programme” is here to support you on your journey.
The aim of the Explore Programme is to support Deaf or Hard of Hearing People aged 16+ as they progress through education, vocational training and employment.
As a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person leaving school and heading off to college, vocational training or work, it can be a bit scary. Explore is here to support you in that transition, providing mentor-based support.
Chime’s experienced mentors will work with you to:
- Build your skills, capacity, and independence
- Provide tailored one-to-one support, advice and information
- Offer career exploration sessions, and workshops
- Prepare Individual Progression Plans (IPP) with access to peer support panels and employment supports.
“Participation in our Explore programme has the power to break down barriers. With increased self-determination and planning skills, enhanced confidence and a wider range of educational and employment opportunities, our young people are empowered to reach their full potential.” Laura Donnellan, Explore Mentor
