Developing Mayo PPN Vision for Community Wellbeing Statement.

Let’s work together to develop a Vision for Community Wellbeing for County Mayo.

A Vision for Community Wellbeing describes the kind of life that people in Mayo want for now and future generations – a community in which all people can live, work and invest. Although we often think about wellbeing in terms of good physical and mental health, it can also describe the wider conditions we need as individuals and communities to have a better quality of life, healthier environment and increased prosperity.

The process for developing the Vision for Community Wellbeing (the Vision) involves consultations with individuals and community groups, online consultations, drafting and revisions before a final, robust document can be delivered which truly reflects the views of the community.

Mayo PPN are holding public consultations throughout Mayo in September and October (dates & venues listed below).

Mayo Public Participation Network (PPN) work in collaboration with Mayo County Council and we want to hear about your vision for the wellbeing of our community.

These consultations are aimed at understanding what you or your group/organisation consider to be important factors for the future wellbeing of our county. Your contribution will inform The Vision / Wellbeing Statement and will be used to influence policy, and work towards achieving community’s goals.

This is a really important opportunity for everyone, young and old, in County Mayo to let your voice be heard and in so doing help to ensure that representative organisations and individuals are working towards our shared vision for the county and that policies and plans for the county reflect our vision.

The first step is to seek the public’s views.

Therefore, we need people to tell us what they consider to be important priorities based on, but not exclusive to:

  • Economy and Resources – Economic Development, Enterprise and Job Creation
  • Social and Community Development
  • Environment and Sustainability
  • Health (Physical and Mental)
  • Values, Cultures, Traditions & Meaning
  • Participation Democracy and Good Governance

Why are we running this consultation?

We are asking community groups and individuals from our diverse communities throughout the county to share their vision for our community to help:

Prepare the new Co Mayo PPN Vision for Community Wellbeing Statement

This can help Mayo PPN to monitor and identify actions that can be undertaken by local and national government as well as by communities to work towards our shared vision.

We hope that our member groups will play a leading role in developing this Wellbeing Statement that the PPN will use as the backbone of our strategies going forward.

Mayo PPN look forward to meeting you!
