A Vision for Community Wellbeing describes the kind of life that people in Mayo want for now and future generations – a community in which all people can live, work and invest. Although we often think about wellbeing in terms of good physical and mental health, it can also describe the wider conditions we need as individuals and communities to have a better quality of life, healthier environment and increased prosperity.
The Mayo Public Participation Network (PPN) held a series of consultation workshops across the county in 2022 about Mayo’s vision for the wellbeing of our community, and the new Mayo Wellbeing Vision Statement booklet was launched in May 2023. The Mayo PPN Vision for Community Wellbeing Statement reflects the views and priorities of communities and is seen as a good measure of how well we as communities are doing.
The process for developing the Vision for Community Wellbeing (the Vision) involved in-person consultations with individuals and community groups, online consultations, drafting and revisions before a final, robust document could be delivered which truly reflects the views of the community. The consultation sessions helped the PPN to monitor and identify actions that can lead to stronger and more resilient communities. They also helped the PPN to participate in decision making in the county.
Launch of Mayo Wellbeing Vision Statement 2023 launch took place on 23rd of May 2023 and booklet is available for download here – Mayo Wellbeing Booklet
