Join ATU Outdoor Education and History and Geography Students for their annual Food for Thought event on the 2nd March at Atlantic Technological University!

Food for Thought is an annual hedge school-inspired event organised by 3rd-year Outdoor Education and History and Geography Students at Atlantic Technological University.

This year, they’re exploring the theme of Connection, Disconnection and Reconnection, focusing on our changing relationship with land, food, and community over time, and what this means for how we live today.

The morning will include dialogue, interactive activity stations, and creative reflection. Student-led contributions will explore themes including nature connection, local knowledge and seed security, food systems, and how the Sustainable Development Goals can be applied in everyday life. Students are also developing a historical timeline from early Ireland to the present, using An Gorta Mór as a case study to explore questions of sovereignty, power, and survival.

The event will conclude with shared reflection, music and movement, and locally sourced, sustainable food where possible.

Join organisers, friends, and community members for this dynamic programme for discussion, creativity, and opportunities to connect with others who care deeply about social justice, community, and environmental sustainability. Share your ideas, learn from others, and be part of a collective space focused on positive change.

They look forward to seeing you there!
