Mayo County Council – Broadband Department Projects
Project 1
The WiFi4EU initiative promotes free access to Wi-Fi connectivity for citizens in public spaces including parks, squares, public buildings, libraries, health centres and museums in municipalities throughout Europe.
Mayo County Council has obtained €120,000 in funding to assist on this free public Wi-Fi project. €60,000 in European funding, matched funding to be provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
• Westnet Broadband Mayo Ltd were awarded the contract to deliver the Wifi4EU project, which was signed in Áras an Chontae on Monday, February 24th 2020
• Nine locations in Mayo have already been selected to host this new service

Broadband Connection Points (BCPs)
• Broadband Connection Points are public locations around the country that have been selected to receive high speed broadband in the first year of the National Broadband Plan. There are currently eleven locations identified as BCPs in County Mayo, with a further location to be added in the coming weeks. These locations will provide quality broadband services for the local communities. For more information, visit the NBI website
