Ireland’s first wheelchair accessible outdoor pre-school is coming to Straide N.S.

“Cnoc na nÓg, Ireland’s first wheelchair accessible outdoor pre-school, will open at St. Peter and Paul National School in Straide next September.

The facility is where every child is empowered to learn and explore in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

This innovative facility is not just a preschool; it is a groundbreaking model for the future of early childhood education that prioritises accessibility, play, and connection with nature.

A spokesperson said: “Our model is based on the experiences of children as they engage in outdoor learning, participate in imaginative play, and foster friendships, all while navigating our wheelchair-accessible outdoor spaces.”

“Cnoc na nÓg will pave the way for a future where every child can thrive, regardless of their abilities, nurturing a generation of compassionate, open-minded leaders.

“Let’s inspire others to understand that accessibility is not just a need but a right—because every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow in a world designed for them.”
