Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity Christopher O’Sullivan TD has announced €3 million in funding for local authorities to deliver actions under Ireland’s National Biodiversity Action Plan.
The work will be implemented and led locally by Biodiversity Officers under the The Heritage Council Ceangal Local Heritage Programme, ensuring community-driven action for nature. It is not open to the public.
This fund supports projects like wildflower meadow management, Hares Corner, Barn Owl conservation, and tackling invasive species such as Japanese Knotweed and Giant Hogweed.
Last year, over 260 projects benefited, from creating new habitats to surveying rare species.
Scheme will be managed by NPWS
