Mayo Autism Parent Support Group’s peer meeting has returned, and will be back next Tuesday, October 21st, at the Family Centre Castlebar. Meetings are free to attend, and a warm welcome to any new parents/carers.
Mayo Autism Parent Support Group group helps provide valuable peer & emotional support, in a safe space with other parents who just ‘get it’. This can bring some welcomed stress relief to the parents, who leave feeling validated, seen and heard. These meetings also help us to celebrate the diversity of our kids, while also revelling in their accomplishments. It’s not all serious, we have bonded as parents and enjoy great laughs too.
On a practical side, parents can share experiences of dealing with assessments, school and navigating life with their autistic child/teen.
This group was born after a gap was identified for supporting parents, who met during the Middletown Centre of Autism training, in Castlebar in 2023. They setup in 2023 are are going strong.
Thanks to The Family Centre Castlebar once again for being so accommodating to our group.
