Mayo Bike Week Festival 22nd – 30th June

National Bike Week returns to Mayo this summer from Saturday, 22nd June to Sunday, 30th June. Enjoy eight days on two wheels celebrating and promoting all that is great about cycling. Mayo Sports Partnership in conjunction with the local Bike Week Steering Committee invites you to “Get on Your Bike” and participate in some of the 25 events taking place throughout Mayo which include:
Family Cycles in Achill, Ballinrobe, Castlebar, Kilmovee, Killeen Louisburgh, Ballintubber and Partry, Sofa2Saddle beginner cycling programmes in Castlebar and Westport, Learn to Cycle programmes involving children with a disability and Mayo County Council staff lunchtime cycle on Wednesday 26th June.
Some other novel events taking place include “Bike Rodeo & Leisure Cycle in Lecanvey on Saturday 29th June at 4pm, Ballintubber Cycling Club Bike Rodeo Friday 28th at 7pm and Covey Wheelers Westport Night Time Leisure Cycle on the Great Western Greenway at 9pm on Wednesday 26th June.
This year the massively popular lunchtime Primary Schools cycles in venues such as Belcarra, Castlebar, Charlestown, Claremorris, Foxford, Swinford and Westport are taking place a week earlier 17th – 21st June due to school holidays.

All of the events are organised locally by community groups / clubs and are co-ordinated by Mayo Sports Partnership / Bike Week Steering Committee members including Mayo County Council Road Safety and Smarter Travel Offices, An Taisce Green Schools, Gardai, community councils and cycling groups from throughout Mayo. In addition to the many events taking place across the county during the week the committee will be having a daily competition on the Tommy Marren Show Mid-West Radio for a €50 voucher for use in various Bike Shops across Mayo.

Also if you post a cycling photo on Mayo Sports Partnership Facebook or Twitter platforms using @Mayosport1 #bikeweek2019 be in with a chance to win a new Bike worth €300 . Draw will take place Monday 1st July in Mayo Sports Partnership offices.
