Mayo County Council are delighted to announce that it has been selection as one of 20 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Champions for 2024-2025.
This prestigious designation recognises Mayo County Council’s commitment to achieving a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future for all.
Chief Executive of Mayo County Council, Kevin Kelly welcomed the announcement saying: “We are delighted to be chosen as an SDG Champion.
“Becoming an SDG Champion reflects Mayo County Councils aspiration to be a leader in sustainable development and is central to making Mayo, sustainable, inclusive, prosperous, and proud for current and future generations”.
The SDGs, also known as the Global Goals, are a set of 17 interconnected objectives adopted by the United Nations in 2015. They aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030.
Mayo County Council has a commitment to the sustainable development of Mayo and as an SDG Champion, will act to advocate, incorporate, and promote the Sustainable Development Goals into our work both internally and externally.
