Ballinrobe GAA Club
Ballinrobe GAA Club, established in 1887, is a thriving sports club providing football and associated activities for over 650 members. Our club has grown exponentially over the last decade resulting in increased membership and on field successes. Our club is actively inclusive and welcomes all members of our community which includes ethnic minorities, children with additional needs, families living in international protection accommodation and Ukrainian refugees. We are applying the ethos of ‘One Club’ model to our club as we recognise the benefits of promoting the playing of Gaelic games for boys and girls from juvenile to adult The club is run by volunteers and is part of the fabric of the community and all its activities. We have a strong tradition of supporting community initiatives' though hands support. Our membership span the life span. While we are a competitive sporting club we also promote inclusiveness, wellbeing, diversity and participation - our underage group is evidence of that. We have a strategic plan and are continually looking at opportunities to improve and be connected to the needs of our membership and wider community. There are 5 pillars established under our Strategic Plan:- • Coaching and Games Development • Facilities and Development • Finance and Fundraising • Club Structures and Administration • PR, Communications and Community Examples of club initiatives to give the opportunity for all abilities and ages:- To ensure that every child has access to necessary equipment, we provide footballs and work with local national schools to supply boots and sports gear. This eliminates the need for families to purchase expensive equipment, thus reducing another potential barrier to participation. Inclusive Coaching Approach: Our coaches volunteered their time for 2 hours each week alongside TY students from Ballinrobe Community School coordinated by our Ladies Development Officer to provide an inclusive approach, welcoming children of all abilities and backgrounds. Tailored Sessions: Our coaching sessions are designed to accommodate children with varying skill levels and interests. Whether a child is new to GAA sports or has been playing for years, they will find appropriate challenges and opportunities for growth in the programme
