Ballyhaunis Community Garden
The garden is a voluntary organisation, well used by members of the local community wishing to use the facility. There is a voluntary committee of 5 members that oversee the running of the garden. Although the garden is an independent organisation, it is situated within the Friary grounds, and is therefore governed by Ballyhaunis Abbey Partnership. The garden provides a valuable green space in the centre of town for any member of the local community to grow and share produce such as vegetables, fruit and flowers all year round. The garden benefits those that do not have their own outdoor space, and those on low incomes. It brings a range of cultures and ages together, and it provides a space to encourage recreation, healthy diets and well-being, and increase social inclusion, as well as supporting biodiversity and natural habitats.
