Bangor Erris Women’s Biodiversity Group
The Bangor Erris Women's Biodiversity Group is a voluntary, non-paid, non-profit polytunnel group. To grow vegetables, fruits, herbs, plants and flowers to share with all members. Inclusive for all women of all ages and abilities. The area is to provide training and educational workshops and programmes, providing better access to healthy organic natruraly rich foods and promoting social activities, through the influence of our landscape and surrounding areas, such as local farmers and children. Engaging with other groups and organisations, to enchance the importance of cultures, historrical and environment values of the area. Learning how to bring back native plants, flowers, insects and habitats. The polytunnel and surrounding area will be therapeutic, with the on-going aim to have a youth and children's area, for them to learn and socialize. By working with other groupd and organisations we can create biodiversity recreation tourism, farming, gardening, schools in the area and surrounding area, and re-visit traditional ways, to acheive social, spirtual, eologial and cultural development. We are under the Dark Skies, so we look forward to working with Mayo Dark Skies and Wild Nephin National Park as we are at the foot of the Bangor walking trail. The polytunnel and its surrounding area will be accesable for them to use for talks, workshops, meetings and a meeting point.
