Bekan Development Committee

Formed in 1997 Bekan Development Committee has undertaken a transformation of Bekan Village including road-widening, wall building, establishment of green areas, provision of lighting, and maintenance of public areas throughout the village. The group initiated a FAS CE scheme in 1997 which ran until 2009 and has employed close to 50 people from the area over the years. Since 2009 the group has sponsored 6 participants on an RSS scheme to continue the work in the village. The ongoing aims of the organisation is to continue to develop the Bekan area to the fullest and in a way that will benefit the whole community.
