Newport Grainne Uaile Festival
Promote music, arts, family fun entertainment The Newport Gráinne Uaile Festival Committee is a volunteer-led group based in Newport, Co. Mayo, dedicated to organising and delivering the annual Gráinne Uaile Festival—one of the longest-running community festivals in the region, now in its 59th year. Our work involves: Planning and delivering a week-long programme of inclusive events, including heritage celebrations, music, art, sport, family fun, and community engagement. Celebrating and preserving the story of Gráinne Uaile (Grace O’Malley), a historical figure of national importance with strong ties to Newport and Clew Bay. Working with local schools, youth groups, older people, artists, musicians, and community volunteers to ensure the festival reflects the diversity and spirit of our town. Supporting local tourism and businesses by attracting visitors and promoting Newport as a vibrant cultural destination. Creating a welcoming and accessible environment where everyone in the community, regardless of age, ability, or background, feels included. We are proud to maintain a strong tradition of volunteerism, cultural pride, and community connection through our work.
