North Mayo Horse & Pony Trekking Club

We are in the process of applying to Oweninny Community Windfarm for the benefit scheme that has recently been launched. Our intention is to set up a cross country Trek & Trail for the benefit of young and old pony riders to broaden the knowledge on Equine skills and to familarise themselves within the Equine Sport. We find their is a huge void in North Mayo for equine activities and that all activities are further afield in the Connaught area with alot of travel involved. As a group of people in the Moygownagh and Kilfian areas we discussed, that we would set up a cross country available to young & amateur riders with the hope of people from the surrounding areas to benefit from this Organisation. Our organisation is based on Horse and Pony riding trials and can give opportunities to young and old within our rural communities, where they can bring Horses and Ponies on outdoor excursions. We want to use Oweninny fund to enhance and make a safe and defined Horse and Pony trail by means of improving the surface and defining the route and ensuring all levels of Equine enthusiasts from beginner to mature riders will enjoy these trails.
