St John Ambulance Mayo Division
St. John Ambulance Mayo Division is the newest division of St. John Ambulance Ireland. The organisation has been at the forefront of emergency care and training in Ireland for over 100 years. It is our vision that, no matter where or when an accident or injury occurs, first aiders will be on hand to provide care and help to those in need. St John Ambulance provides first aid and ambulance cover up to Advanced Paramedic level, as well as providing nurses and doctors at events around the county, from international sports events to local fun runs. Our members also work alongside statutory, private and other voluntary ambulance services at concert venues, sports stadia and exhibition centres such as the Mayo Convention Centre and Croke Park. We are also a backup resource to the National Ambulance Service in the event of a major emergency. St John Ambulance also runs public courses in community caring, community first aid, paediatric first aid and occupational first aid. We are an entirely voluntary organisation, reliant on donations from the public and fundraising events run by the members in the Division for its continued success. We receive no government funding. We maintain 2 fully equipped emergency ambulances and work hard to ensure that our members train to the highest international standards in pre-hospital emergency care. We currently have 30 members from across Co. Mayo; from Ballina to Westport, Charlestown to Castlebar, and everywhere in between.
