Toomore Cemetery Committee

The Committee was set up as our community cemetery was in need of landscaping. We have succeeded in providing a beautifully landscaped and maintained cemetery a We also set up a community project to record the names of the community buried in the old cemetery. We also wish to record as many unmarked graves. Our Community honoured Bridget Lyon Thornton in 2016 who is buried in our Community Cemetery. Brigid Lyons Thornton was a member of Cumann na mBan, an officer in the Irish Free State Army. We hold an annual cemetery mass which brings relatives’ and ancestors from far and wide to remember their deceased and the deceased in the unmarked graves.
