The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme provides funding for the development of new and existing outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas. The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has launched the 2024/25 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.
The 2024/25 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) will see the development of natural amenities such as Ireland’s mountains, lakes, beaches, bogs, walkways, greenways and blueways.
Mayo County Council are now seeking expressions of interest under Measures 1, 2, 3 and the Project Development Measure. Expression of Interest forms to be submitted to [email protected] Closing Date: Thursday 12th December 2024

Measure 1 – Grant amount up to €40,000 for small scale repair/development/promotion and marketing: Measure 1 Expression of Interest Form
Measure 2 – Grant amount up to €200,000 for medium scale repair/upgrade and new trail/amenity development
Measure 3 – Grant amount up to €500,000 for strategic large- scale repair/upgrade and new strategic trail/amenity development

As set out in the scheme details, projects with evidence of strong community engagement will be prioritised.
As in previous years, the scheme does not include sporting activities which take place in the countryside on confined courses or pitches specifically designed and constructed for those events e.g., golf, football, show jumping or motorised activities such as quads/scramblers.
