Dara Calleary TD, Minister for Rural and Community Development & the Gaeltacht, was delighted to announce that the TFI Anseo Pilot Service has been extended in Achill. Minister Calleary launched the one-year scheme with Cllr Paul McNamara in Achill in July last year and he has seen first hand the success of the pilot since then.
The people in Achill, Currane and Mulranny have really embraced this service and it is used by every cohort of the community, young and old.
However, Minister Calleary wants to emphasise that this is still a pilot scheme, so it is vitally important that the local people continue to use it and that new people sign up too. There will be a final report on its usage prepared in December and that will determine if this becomes a permanent fixture, which Minister Calleary will be strongly advocating for.
Minister Calleary offered thanks to Sarah and the team in TFI Local Link Mayo and to all the bus operators who have but so much time and effort in to making this service a success.
